XR Museum Film

Fall 2025

Group Project - Amelia Loshaw

To The Moon & Back Again is a short film walking through a mixed reality museum display exploring the confusing world of cryptocurrency and a popular subsection, “meme coins.” These coins are often shady and unregulated, leading to dangerous investments that become popular just through name identity and popular culture. This display uses icons of popular culture to tell the serious and dark story of crypto meme rugpulls. The contrasting tone of the dark, serious nature and the silly cartoon voices mirror the reality that is meme coins - bright and funny on the surface, but serious in nature.

The biggest takeaways learned on this short film was video editing and designing in a physical space. Some challenges our team faced were accessibility issues. Since our project was intended to be in the dark, using text or physical placards to convey what we wanted to was a challenge. Communicating the goal of the experience also proved to be a challenge due to the confusing nature of the topic. We ended up needing to use physical placards that were located in a convenient viewing location to quickly set up the experience, but ultimately was successful creating a functional museum display as well as an interesting short film walking through it.
