Overflow Packaging

Spring 2024

Solo Project

This packaging project surrounds creating 3 new designs for different energy/pop drink flavors. Research for this project focused on studying multiple different pop cans and analyzing what makes them stand out on a shelf. The biggest challenge encountered was creating the logo and design system that stayed consistent, and finding the copyright free imagery that I was looking for. The copyright issues were solved through search engine filters and free stock imagery sites. The final bottles successfully brought energy and stood out against other drink cans, while also managing to keep a visual cohesion. The design process also emphasized the importance of brand identity, ensuring each flavor felt unique while still part of a larger family.

The project shows how packaging design must balance functionality with visual appeal to capture consumer attention. It highlights how research into existing products directly informs new creative solutions. In the end, the designs reflect both creativity and strategic problem-solving. The project demonstrates the value of iteration and adaptation when working within real-world constraints.
